Hey! I’m Nate Stewart—a passionate photographer and college student navigating the exhilarating journey of both academia and creativity. My studies encompass not only photography but also marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. This diverse background equips me with a well-rounded perspective, allowing me to approach my work with both artistic vision and business acumen.
One question I often receive is, “What do you like to photograph?” While it’s a tough one to answer, I’m constantly striving to expand my skills and enjoy exploring a wide range of subjects rather than confining myself to a specific niche. Although in my wide interests, I find myself frequently drawn to nature, architecture, abstract and artistic expressions, as well as candid moments in events and street photography. Each click of the shutter is an opportunity to capture the unique stories of the world around us.
My “secret sauce” lies in my strong visuals and compositions. I aim to create images that not only reflect professionalism, but also demonstrate aspects of who you are as an individual and what makes your friends and family smile. I believe that photography should be an enjoyable experience, so I strive to make every shoot fun and memorable. In an age increasingly dominated by technology, I’m dedicated to capturing the essence of humanity—our loves, passions, and dreams—reminding us all that we are, indeed, more than just pixels on a screen.
Origins
The photo that started it all…
My senior year of high school is when I first picked up a creative hobby in the form of photography. When I was not busy wrestling or contemplating if I wanted to become an engineer or architect, I was running around my town with a camera learning all the in’s and out’s of shutter speed, aperture, and ISO.
After a few months and a suggestion from a friend, I entered a state competition with a photo named, “After Hours,” (the B&W photo) and won first place! This photo is dear to my heart as it gave me the confidence to launch my career!
“Extra! Extra! Brand new photographer on the block!”
Entering college, my passion lead me to join “The Bagpipe,” Covenant College’s longstanding student publications, as their photo editor.
—Our first issue of the year was published with my photos front and center!
A shopkeepers dream…
After a year of photographing everything I saw, I decided it was time to sell my work! I entered into a local sale, set up shop, and spent the afternoon handing out artistic and creative prints.
The photo on featured was my most sold print— a photo taken early in the morning my first year of college, after I had woken up my very sleepy roommate grabbing all of my camera equipment. He was very aware from that point that I was a photographer through and through.
Cameras & Community
Deep into college and meeting many good photography friends, I decided to make a “Photography Club.” A brief lifespan, but one that will inspire my future aspirations to bring community around art.
The photo shown is from our first “photo walk” around the riverfront of Chattanooga, TN. My first experience bring together a bunch of strangers with nothing but the power of a camera, to simply practice their craft and enjoy each other’s company.
